Education Pogram Turning Point's educational program is approved by the Colorado Department of Education and is designed to accommodate students with diverse academic needs who are learning at varying educational levels. The classrooms are staffed by special education teachers, counselors and therapeutic staff. Turning Point's curriculum integrates state educational standards with a hands-on service learning approach. Community volunteers and Colorado State University students provide tutoring and educational support for youth. Built in 1928 the Waverly school sits on 5 acres with a gym. This school allows Turning Point to combine education programs and expand recreational opportunities for students. A consolidated education program allows Turning Point to become compliant with the legislation of No Child Left Behind in having all of our students taught by highly qualified teaching staff. |

Turning Point youth may attend Waverly School with plans to obtain a General Education Diploma, to earn credits for their home district high school graduation requirements, or to obtain a high school diploma through the Weld County alternative diploma program. Students who have obtained their GED may participate in college prep activities and attend college classes and/or obtain career training and vocational skills through a partnership with Larimer County Work Force Center. In addition, Turning Point youth actively participate in community volunteer projects within the community. Community volunteer activities allow students to learn and develop through active participation in organized experiences that meet actual community needs. These experiences provide structured time for them to reflect by thinking, talking, and writing about what they experienced during their volunteer activity. |
